Choose how to build your route
Sign in, open the editor and enter a recognisable title. You can choose points on the map and name stops, or import a GPX track you have already checked. Add a date and notes to preserve the context.
For a Santiago route covered by the planner, you can instead use Create your route to distribute stages along the available track. The two tools meet different needs.

Read the distance correctly
If you draw manual points, the editor shows the geometric distance between them: dashed lines do not calculate an itinerary along paths or roads. Do not treat it as a promise of the kilometres you will walk.
With a GPX, an approximate distance is calculated along the imported track, which may be simplified. Check the file on the map, its origin and track continuity before basing your journey on the result.
Save and choose visibility
The GPX file must contain a single continuous track and be smaller than 5 MB. If importing reports a problem, check the original file instead of artificially joining separate sections.
After saving, you can reopen the route from the dashboard. Enable sharing only if you also want notes accessible to anyone receiving the link; you can revoke it later. Avoid personal information you do not wish to share.
How to save favourite Caminos and routes on SantiagoLand
Browse route pages and use the favourite button where available. You can keep several alternatives and compare them later: you do not have to choose immediately.
A favourite links back to the Camino page. It is not yet a travel programme with dates, stages and accommodation; use planning for that.

Find your work in the dashboard
Sign in and open My Camino dashboard. Here you will find favourites and routes saved in your account, including on another device using the same profile. Check the confirmation message when saving an itinerary.
The planner can also save in your browser: this local data is different from saving in your account. If you want to resume on your computer after using your phone, make sure you have saved it to your profile.
Decide what to share
Personal routes remain private until you enable sharing by link. You can change this in the dashboard. Anyone receiving a shared route link can view the content provided on its page.
The dashboard also contains group proposals and requests to join. If you have not yet chosen a departure, you can visit the noticeboard to find companions.
