The calling: leaving the nets
Jesus meets James and John as they mend their nets. The two brothers leave the boat and their father Zebedee and follow him.
«And immediately he called them.»
Mark 1:20 · translated from the Italian CEI 2008 text
How to read this passage
The call reaches James at work. Following Jesus begins a relationship and changes the direction of his life. The promptness of his response is central to the account; the text does not describe what James thinks at that moment.
