Those organizing their first Camino may encounter offers described by the route name, like French or Portuguese. This indication is only a starting point for verification. To book you need a date, a pickup location and a precise destination.
Make the request before deciding you will walk without a backpack. If a stage is not covered, you can change the accommodation, modify the plan or carry the luggage. Knowing this while already on the route makes every choice more complicated.
Differences published by Correos
Correos advertises the Paq Mochila on several itineraries. For 2026 it indicates, among departures, Roncisvalle and Somport on the French, IrĂşn on the Northern, Oviedo on the Primitivo and Porto on the Portuguese. For the VĂa de la Plata and the SanabrĂ©s the reference from Ourense does not imply continuous transport from Seville.
The service page also indicates winter coverage on the Sarria-Santiago and Tui-Santiago sections, with excluded days. The Winter Route and departures from Somport may require direct contact. The name “Winter Route” does not guarantee that every service is available all year.
This information helps to formulate the request, but confirmation must concern your dates. For the Portuguese Coast, variants or extensions toward Fisterra and MuxĂa, explicitly ask for the chosen route.
Five pieces of information to communicate
Prepare a list with transfer date, pickup accommodation, delivery accommodation, number of bags and expected weight. Use the full names of the facilities, not just the town name: two nearby lodgings may have different procedures.
Ask for the final price, the booking deadline, the time to leave the luggage and the rules to modify the trip. Keep an offline-accessible confirmation. If the accommodation does not allow unattended storage, first agree an alternative point accepted by the carrier.
Carry with you what you need during the stage
The sent backpack will not be available while you walk. So prepare a day bag with documents, credential, phone, water, a snack and weather protection. Check that personal medications and essential items remain with you.
Before handing over the luggage, photograph it with its label. Write a reachable contact and verify you have closed all pockets. These small organizational steps help when you need to identify a suitcase or clarify a delivery.
Taxis and backpacks are two different requests
A luggage transfer does not automatically include the transport of a person. If you need to interrupt the day, request a local taxi and communicate the pickup point, preferably with coordinates or a recognizable place. Agree on destination, fare and number of people.
